I give thanks to God Almighty who has preserved our lives to see the dawn of a new day and for making history – 1st convention in the big Apple, 1st vice President from Canada and 1st woman President!!! All these happened in New York, last Saturday, when you used your voting rights to set a new page and record in the history of our Ẹgbẹ.
Now, it is with great humility and commitment that I accept the mandate you have given me to be the National President of our beloved Ẹgbẹ.
I want to start off by expressing my gratitude to former National Presidents Kọlawọle, Gbadegẹsin, Ọtubusin, Ajao, Mohammed, Odusanya and Oduwọle for their roles and vision that has made us all that we are today.
I salute the courage of all contestants especially Dr. Hassan. To me, all contestants at our 2011 National Convention are winners because they will have contributions in the dispensation of changes we will be making to move Ẹgbẹ forward. All branches and their members will be involved in the running of our affairs. We need to unite and put all hands on deck to resuscitate this Association.
We must put our personal intentions aside and pursue a common goal. By doing this, we will achieve more than what we can individually. United we stand, divided we fall, as the saying goes. “Ajeje, ọwọ Kan Ko gbe ẹru d’ori” I am confident that we all want the best for the Egbe, and I assure you, this is a new era that will witness progress.
I know that our Ẹgbẹ needs to be in its rightful position in USA, Canada, Nigeria, and indeed the Diaspora. For this task, I have prepared myself. With your support, I will work relentlessly to effect positive changes; I will ensure that I carry all of you along in the implementation of my campaign programs.
This administration will be judged by the hand we extend to the NEC and indeed each chapter members. You will decide if it is one worth taking and it is the job of the President to make it worthy of taking. I am determined to offer that hand to all. By doing so we leave no success unrealized… and no vision unfulfilled. Therefore, the success of the executives will in turn be the triumph for NEC and all chapters.
Before I conclude, I thank all members of my campaign team, “Team Tenabe”: Hons. Ọmọ-Ọba Adepegba, Kayode Kuforiji, Bayọ Ọmọlọla, Olutoyin and Charity Ogunbọ, Kayọde Oyeleke, Gbọlahan Afọlabi and Kayode Adenaiya . Last but not the least, l thank my family, especially my dear husband, first Agba Akin Gabriel Tenabe, for their unconditional love and support.
All of you in Ẹgbẹ Ọmọ Yoruba of USA and Canada have made history. You have given me your mandate. On my part, I will serve you sincerely and diligently.
Again, thank you very much. May God bless you all! May Oduduwa bless the Yoruba Nation! Amen.
